GEHR teachers and school district reach tentative agreement

The Press of Atlantic City reports that a tentative agreement has been reached on a new contract between the Greater Egg Harbor Regional Education Association and the district Board of Education.

Details of the agreement will be presented to the union membership within the next week or two, and will not be made public until the agreement is ratified.

Plans for informational picketing by union members Tuesday outside the district's three Atlantic County high schools - Oakcrest in Mays Landing, Absegami in Galloway Township and Cedar Creek in Egg Harbor City - have been canceled. School is scheduled to open Tuesday for the new year.

Let's all hope that the Mullica Township Education Association and the Mullica Township School Board can come to some kind of compromise and reach an agreement as soon as possible also.

It's a shame that GEHR had to take a strike vote in order to get a contract settled.
