As per my previous post, I think that this meeting will be held in an overcrowded town hall, and that there will not be room for all of those wishing to attend. I am sorry that the mayor and committee people were not open to my suggestion to move this meeting to the school library, gym, or cafetorium where there would be room for everyone. I hope I am wrong about this because I, for one, have attended more than enough of these meetings with SRO and with participants spilling out into the lobby.
Re 9:03am
Did you send a letter to the town hall with your suggestion? I think that might have been a better way to present your idea.
Although this site is great for people to send in their opinions and thoughts on all different matters,I think you should go through official channels in an attempt to contact the Mayor and the Committee. This is a blog site, which may or may not be read by them.
Too late now.
Re 4:09 pm
Yes, I made sure that they knew my concerns, but they don't always listen to me. They have their reasons for wanting to keep the meeting in town hall despite the inconvenience to the public in attendance.
Re 7:40pm
I see by your post time that you didn't even go to the meeting. That shows me that the budget was not one of your concerns.
The meeting went well and I even saw a few empty seats. You should have filled one of them.
I'm sure you're disappointed that the meeting wasn't a disaster as you predicted.
What did you expect? The Phillies were on. Great game too!
The budget was not a real concern for me. It was a foregone conclusion. A $40,000 cut is symbolic at best. I was just suggesting that the meeting be held in a location where the public could be accommodated in a less crowded situation.
BTW, the Press indicated that there was SRO. So you are saying that the reporter is wrong.
I was there also, there were a few empty seats. People were standing, but the were late comers who chose to stand instead of disrupting the meeting that was already in progress.
I guess I underestimated the number of Mullicans who are Phillies fans like me. I will try to remember that the next time. Actually I thought there would be more teachers there, but they probably felt uncomfortable about attending in the current climate. Thanks to the action of the committee I will save $17 on my annual property taxes next year, and I know that one new special needs student could wipe that out in a heart beat. That being said, I am a big fan of Mike, Bernie, and the current committee members. They did what they had to do.
