Mullica residents can head over to the Pinelands United Methodist Church and Batsto-Pleasant Mills Cemetery at 11:00 AM in Washington Township, Burlington County, to join in the annual Memorial Day celebration organized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5043 and the church.
The ceremony will feature a special service and wreath presentation at the All Wars Memorial. The winner of an essay-writing contest at Mullica Township Middle School will explain why Memorial Day means to him or her, said Ron Rulon, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5043 quartermaster. The Elwood, Green Bank, Nesco and Sweetwater volunteer fire companies will bring along their trucks and children can tour the vehicles afterwards, Rulon said.
"We'll read off the names of the military deceased and a bell will ring," Rulon said. "It's a solemn thing."
