SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED FOR MULLICA

According to an article in the Press of Atlantic City, there are four people running for the three, three-year seats open on the school board. The three incumbents Spiros Malaspina (President), Maria Jones, Lisa Martinez(Vice-President)and it seems as if someone new has "thrown their hat in the ring" Walter Lyons.

No matter what the outcome,we can only hope that there will never be a tie vote and runoff again in the future history of Mullica.

I applaud Mr.Lyons for his interest in the school board.
I wish more parents would get involved and add new ideas and problem solving debates.

The school takes the majority of our taxes and very few of the voting population even make an effort to cast their vote. This sends a clear message to the Board that nobody really cares.

Please vote this time around and let the Board know that you're interested and are watching what they do.

Let's hope that the voters learn about the issues and the candidates before they come out and vote. Too often it becomes just a popularity contest. The best candidates don't always get elected. Actually, we sometimes have had some pretty poor ones selected based on name recognition rather than on their qualifications for the job. I can think of one useless board member who continually gets re-elected because his wife is a teacher in Mullica.
