To the person who wrote the 1/24/10 letter in response to the Mullica BOE's approval of the raises for the five school administrators, would you please consider running for the BOE office?

I enjoyed reading your letter and you have some very good ideas for cutting costs. We need people like you in office who are not afraid to make the necessary changes our school needs during this hard economic time.

I would urge anyone, who is like minded and qualifies for candidacy, to please think about serving your community and help give our children a great education without draining the average Mullican's budget.

I would bet my life that a teacher from the school wrote that response and it didn't come from any parent.

The key phase here is "draining the average Mullican's budget". That's what the teachers' union continues to do in these hard economic times. It doesn't care about the rest of us taxpayers, who are trying to raise families and who are already struggling to pay extremely high property taxes or lose our homes. Please, no raises this year and please contribute a fair amount to your health benefits like the rest of us so we don't have to pay so much for you. Leave some money left in the budget so the school can buy supplies for the children. After all, your mantra for more money has always been "think about the children", hasn't it? Stop this whining "we just want what they have". When will it ever end?

Let's hope Christie can finally do something to break the NJEA's chokehold on the taxpayers.
