Felix
I am looking for information on an old man named Felix. He lives in the high bank area. (Last house on the river south) He walked with a cane and had one bad eye. I used to pick him up twice a month or so at Shop Rite in Hammonton and take him home. I have not seen him in at least a month. Any one know if he is ok. ( I hope he is ) I miss our long talks about old Mullica! Thanks for your help

Felix was at the committee meeting last week.
Last I heard was that the Forman's bought a tax lein on his house and were kicking him out in the street.
Please correct 12:34. Mr.Filpus is a long time Forman family friend. Mr. Filpus still lives in his home.
Unfortunately, not being able to afford one's property taxes in NJ is often the reason why many, especially the elderly, lose their homes and are forced to move away. The elderly should be exempt, depending upon their assets, income and the value of their property. Its only fair when they are too old or infirm to work anymore.
9:01 I totally agree.
Re 8:47
I'm glad to hear that Felix is still allowed to stay in his home.
It's unfortunate for him that "family friends" took his riverfront property for only $55,000 according to the Press.
And how much did Mr. Filpus net from the sale of his property after his property tax lien was deducted?
It seems to me that Mr. Filpus's property was recently sold. I see the survey markers. Maybe its one of those reverse mortgages.
Thank you as long as I know he is ok! I will look for him !!
Again, you need to be corrected. Mr. Filpus proerty does not border the river. Seems like you have a problrm with that sale?
5:53 You need to ask Mr. Filpus, although I hardly think that he would answer you as it is clearly none of your business!
Just saw him today Thursday was cleaning out his house. Formans are kicking him out as of the 1st on jan.. Felix sold his other house to the formans many years ago located at the end of elwood road. I don't know what happens to him after jan. Family friend i dont think so.
re 5:53 pm
Too bad his "family friends" didn't inform and help him with a reverse mortgage. He would still have his property and probably a nice monthly income.
With friends like that, who needs enemies?
Did Felix say where he was moving to? What a terrible thing to lose one's home at his age.
Now that we've figured out for the person that Felix is okay, maybe his personal business should be kept personal. He's okay, he's been seen lately and let's let it end with that.
Yes, let's not worry about our fellow man.
I think it's apparent that it's not your fellow man that you are worried about.
Something's wrong when the town auctions off its tax delinquencies to private individuals who would throw the owner out of his or her home or and then have the town brag about how much money it made from the "sale". There's got to be a better way. How about the town putting a lien on the home until it is eventually sold?
The person that bought the tax liens would have thrown the occupant out. The Formans did not buy the liens at the township sale, someone else did. Can you stop now please. There is no hiidden agenda in this story.
He lives on a nice stream that boarders his land and you can get to the river from it so in a way its close to living on the river.
What a note to leave office on.
8:36 Its a shack in a swamp. What a way to stretch it. There is no river access either.
9:o3 posting hey idiot walk about a quarter mile down that stream and tell what that big body of water is in front of you. you should think before you speak you might be creditable.
I forgot for a second how you people live, I guess that shack does look like a valuable piece of property, to you. Its not waterfront property and does not access the river. Everyone(and I mean everyone) has a stream crossing pleasant mills into the river, it doesn't make it more valuable, idiot. Let's just say the Formans are horrible horrible people, for paying off a tax lien before a nice elderly friend was thrown out by whoever had purchased the liens at the township sale. (easy to find out, rather than make it up)and yet he still lives in his home, imagine that. Your hate for the Formans is very creditable, idiot.
RE: 8:36 post
Just like the "Love Shack", until you're selling it. Then its worth something.
After you sink over a hundred grand into renovation, as in the "love shack", a property will increase in value. Again , way above anything you people can understand. Someday maybe you will live in a nice house, and get over your jealousy. I feel sorry for you all.
re 8:37 am
Ok, so the Forman's bought the tax lien from someone else and took possession and title of the property of their elderly "friend".
Did they buy the lien to help their "friend"? NO
Are they kicking the poor old guy out of his house? YES
I live in a nice house and I didn't have to go around screwing innocent people to get it.
As for jealousy of the Forman's, that's a joke! It's like an overall feeling of pity and disdain for their shallow values and their quest for material gain to fill their empty souls.
Life is short and when I go to my maker, I will be leaving with a clear conscience.
Everyone comes in with nothing and we leave only with the consequences of our deeds while we were here.
No, not even a canoe, but good try.
On further thought, not even an innertube. For all of you real estate experts out there, you may be able to wade in it, does that add value?
ok how about swimming down the stream, maybe yes
Re 9:03 am
"It's a shack in a swamp".
In a few months the Press will read:
"The ultimate weekend relaxation getaway! Adorable newly remodeled cottage with a beautiful maundering stream that runs into the nearby Mullica river. Enjoy nature's beauty from your own backyard in this prestigeous Sweetwater location.
See it today! Won't last @ $499,999".
Gee, maybe Felix's "long time family friends" will help him to find state aid now that he's homeless.
Re 8:37 am
If it's just a shack in the swamp, what's the rush in taking over?
It's his home. Couldn't you just let him stay as you remodel the place.
He could be a guard against vandalism. The market is very slow and it might be a long time before the place sells.
RE 8:19pm
Add "great swimming" to the advertisement.
8:19 Maybe the ad should read: Elderly man stays in home for 4 years and is able to live in his home even though he is unable to pay his taxes. No good deed goes unpunished.
"When you judge another, you do not define them , you define yourself."
Felix probably would better off living in a subsidized apartment in EHC or Hammonton, near public transportation and shopping, or with friends, as he could no longer afford his home or have the ability to maintain it.
9:13 Good idea, if any of this was true to begin with. Time to mind your own.
RE 9:47am
The transaction was to the Forman's was in the Press and the old guy is packing to move out by the Jan. 1.
The amount listed was $55,000.
What's not true?
re 9:47 am
"Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?"
Galatians 4:16
re 9:47 am
I agree it was be easier and safer for him to live in an apt. around services and people but it should have been his choice and he could have left with more money if things were done with his benefit in mind.
Re 7;50 am
So you're saying that someone held the lien for 4 years without kicking him out and then the Forman's bought it and took over the property and told the old "family friend" to leave. Nice.
At least the original holder had some compassion.
No, you become my enemy, because you lie.
Why not let Felix rent his house until he dies or no longer can get around. What are we talking a couple of years maybe.
I think this topic has gotton the most hits ever on gadfly history can anyone tell me what the most hits on one topic was. THANKS
The 11/4/09 skatepark article got 91 so far.
RE 6:03 pm
If you think this is all BS, then why don't you enlighten us with the "truth".
RE 6:03 pm
What part of this is a lie?
Clear it all up and set us straight.
Well, the sale price is 55k. That seems to be correct. The rest is nasty speculation, gossip, and libel. Oh, heaven awaits you Christians! Can't wait for your Christmas posts.
Re 10:00pm
Rest assured that the Christmas posts won't include Forman unless she cons Santa out of his sled.
This person who tells everyone to mind their own business is always phoning friends and badmouthing folks. Many times she holds judgement on her opinions and she brags that her instincts are always right and she has a way of knowing people and if they're good or bad by her intuition. Talk about hypocrasy. She also brags about she will say what she pleases about anyone she pleases and no one will stop her. If the situation was reversed she'd be on the attack herself.
Regarding meaness, speculation, lies etc you are obviously referring to the campaign literature your Club and local party sent out last election. While you're worried about your end it didnt seem to bother you about mentioning and possibly jeoparding folks employment.
2.86 acres on Pleasant Mills Road for $55,000, including the "shack", property taxes a little over $2,000 a year and value of of the property is over $175,000, not a bad deal.
To all the people who posted anonymous comments(aka cowards): Why hate on Janet Forman? Jealous much? Obviously. You know if you had $55k you would have done the same thing, right? Get the FACTS before you post inaccurate comments. Your jealousy is apparent AND sad. Take a good, long look at yourself after reading this. How many of YOU have stepped up and offered poor, poor Felix a place to stay or a hot meal? That's what I thought. Last I heard, G_d was the only one who was our Judge....hmmm. You people need to get a life. See, I am not afraid to post my name. You should try it. Renee Cardia Weckstein, Springfield, NJ.
Another expert joins the group.
Well, you know they say you have to worry when they stop talking about you.
Re 11:07 am
You're wrong, Ms. Weckstein.
It will come as a shock to you that not everyone who has a hefty bank account would have the stomach to rob less fortunate people of their homes.
I see you, like your sister, have a strong stomach and a weak conscience.
Please stay in Springfield.
