Traffic will be detoured off Pleasant Mills Road (Route 542), which started Monday, to allow for road reconstruction, county officials said. The detour will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, between Columbia and Jackson roads, and is expected to last a week. Drivers are reminded to allow extra travel time or take a different route.

The road has been closed (off and on) since June 22nd. It was supposed to reopen on July 22nd.
I truly wish that our police dept. would send a car to catch the speeders running up and down the east end of Moores Ave. between the hours of 7-9:00 A.M., and 4-6:00 P.M. every weekday. They would catch numerous speeders who exceed the 30mph. speed limit by up to 40mph. Drivers are literally zooming up the ave. endangering our pets and our children, yet no officers of our police dept. have been present to put a stop to this illegality and danger.
