Business as usual.

Add that E-mail to the list of things that were just "misunderstandings".
I find it immpossible to believe that Bill Kennedy had this idea to raid the reserves.
Sure, he must have been "awkard and uncomfortable" while Chasey and Forman held their breath hoping he could get a few rehearsed sentences out correctly.
Looks like another cover-up for Chasey's schemes by her flunkies.

As a homeowner, I know that if I don't have enough income to cover my bills, I have to cut down on things or make more money somehow.
If I start using my savings to pay my basic expenses while I'm wishing to win the lottery,I'll soon be broke,my bills will still need to be paid in the future and all my emergency money will be gone.
This plan to use reserve funds is a quick fix to avoid difficult decisions now.
The easiest way to do something is generally not the smartest way.

Maybe if Chasey didn't push through the contracts with all the salary raises and gold benefits for the last nine years, there would be a need for her to hide the increased spending.

I'd say it's better to take the hit for pass mistakes now. Why prolong the pain and make it worse next year just for Chasey's political aspirations.
From everything I'm reading the 2009 economy might be worse than 2008 and we won't be able to take a big hit in 2010.
Cuts should be made and the reserves should be left alone.

How about closing down the Municipal Offices every Friday. We're not that big of a town and everyone could get their business done Monday through Thursday.
Close the "Dump" on Monday's and let the public works have the day off.

I would have loved to see Bill Kennedy's face when St. Amour suggested they give up their committee salary. That must have been a "Kodak Moment".

The 1:15 PM poster almost had it right, but they are not gold benefits that Chasey gave to the employees all these years that she sat on committee for their votes, they are platinum-grade level. No contribution to health benefits for our municipal employees. Unlimited sick days for our police officers. By the time that the taxpayers pay for all the salary and benefit increases each year, there's nothing left in the kitty to do anything in this township.

Re 3:54pm
You forgot to include that we will be paying for these health benefits for the rest of their and their families lives when they retire to a luxury condo in Hawaii.
Chasey proved her concern was not for the taxpayers all these past years. Are we supposed to believe that anything she says is in the best interest of the town now?

It's stated in the article that Kennedy does not have the intellectual sophistication to understand the future impact of using the reserve fund.
That makes it quite clear that Forman and Chasey have knowingly put the town on thin ice with this vote. And they don't give a damn.

Forman has been burning her candle at both ends. Giving out raises, having official contacts, having inside information have all helped her make money in this town.
Now that the bubble has burst and the town can't support all the expensive commitments she voted for, she has to cover that fact.

I think she wants to use the reserve to fool people that the taxes are lower then they should be. She has houses that she has to sell and the real tax rate would probably throw another $1000+ dollars on the mansions. Her customers would not be happy, especially since she was part of the cause. Also, such high tax bills are not good selling points.
She faces fire from both ends and is trying not to get burned too badly
What a problem! Make cuts to people who cover her ass or turn her backs on her customers?
No problem! Pull the money out of the reserve fund, make no cuts, keep the tax rate at least .02 cents lower.
Hell, she 'll probably be in Myrtle Beach when the shit hits the fan in 2010.

Did Chasey and Forman even try to cut anything out of the budget?

How are we supposed to make up that reserve money? And 2010 will be worse than this year.
Why would Chasey and Forman say this was Kennedy's idea if it was so great? They don't want the credit but they can't escape the blame for this ill conceived plan, either.
I can't shake the feeling that something bigger is going on here behind the scenes, as usual, for their benefit.

I heard that Forman is not running next year.

Not only is Forman not running but she has been telling people that she's planning to move to Tennessee in two years. She really has no vested interest in the future of our township if her mindset is to move away rather than work to lower taxes here. She should step down and let someone else govern who plans to continue to live here.

Re 6:56 am
Before Forman runs to Tennessee, Myrtle Beach or takes up permanent residence on the "Knot Guilty",she'll have to deal with all the DEP violations on her property.
She won't be able to sell it until everything is corrected. In the long run, it might be cheaper for her just to abandon the property and leave.

RE6:56AM It is my feeling that Forman does have a vested interest in this town and that is to make as much money as possible selling real estate in it.
Her vote on the committee can change the zoning and destroy the town,as we know it,forever.
I don't think it's right that she is allowed to vote on matters of zoning, construction or land sales because of personal enrichment conflicts.

Hey, Janet don't let the door hit you on your way out!

Forman's leaving is like the scene in The Wizard of Oz when the house lands on the witch(in this case a garage) and the Munchkins singing "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead"(Politically in this case).
If she does move the Republican Club and Chasey may be seeking donations for a one way trip just to get her out of their sight after the way she disgraced them all.

The witch might be out of the picture but the story isn't over until the wizard is exposed.
