CHASEY'S VOODOO ECONOMICS-RAID MULLICA'S CASH RESERVES?

According to a recent post on Keep Mullica Green, Kathy Chasey's "Emergency Budget Meeting" scheduled for tomorrow night at 5:00 PM is apparently nothing more than election year trickery on the taxpayers of Mullica. For the full post, click here.

The 3-1/2% budget increase that Chasey wants to pay for from our cash reserves this year is only a one-shot deal. It will have to be paid next year too and every year thereafter, on top of any future budget increases.
Now is not the time to increase the budget or our taxes. We taxpayers expect better from our elected officials. That means cutting expenses, not painting over the increase. The committee needs to do what the taxpayers want and that is to cut taxes, not raise them.

So basically what this amounts to is borrowing against the future, while hoping that the New Year will be better than this one. As the fund become more depleted, there's less money in the cookie jar to handle extraordinary expenses in future years and that means higher taxes for everyone. I have a novel idea, let's first look for ways not to spend more money this year by cutting the budget.

It is no surprise that Forman and Kennedy will not do anything regarding cutting expenses but Chasey had been the swing vote in cutting costs. She is obviously already campaigning and assumes the taxpayers will be ok wtth the increase. She will blame the state, the feds , the economy etc for the increase and hope the voters aren't smart enough to follow all the sweetheart contracts and favors. She hopes to use this to get elected and then next year when the stuff hits the fan to use it against the 2 Dems who will be facing re election. This is so typical of smoke and mirrors and it shows she has learned all the tricks of any professional politican. Really should be term limits and this is one big reason. She'll get the votes to do this but it needs to be brought out how the township is going for broke with her.

This article explains why Chasey and Forman agreed so quickly to a 0% increase at the last meeting.
It fits right in with with their usual deceptive practices.
I see how it works.
They make themselves appear fiscally responsible to the voters this election year. If they get in, they'll just screw the town over for the next three years and won't give a damn.
Forman already said she plans on leaving N.J. and Chasey just needs her pension years in.
If they lose in Nov., they'll just laugh because they left the Dems. and the town it a big mess.
Another WIN-WIN plot for them and LOSE-LOSE for us.
I am just SO disgusted with their trickery!

I was wondering if there is any way for the Gadfly to print the comments out horizontally like the AC Press does.
With so many people responding now and with the election year coming up, it's going to take me 5 minutes just to scroll down to see new posts.
I'm spreading the word about this site and the people that do know about it just love it and feel we need this outlet for opinions.
Thanks Gadfly!

Only two members of the public attended. The meeting was at 5:00, which makes it nearly impossible for most of the public to attend.
