A very interesting post was found posted on the AC Press under the 2/6/09 article "Rescue Squad seeks to revive Mullica Squad". The comment was dated Wed.,Feb.11,2009. 7:24 pm. and Signed by "Mullica Tax Payer".
It reads as follows:
"No, the squad members found out about the squad disbanding the same way the rest of Mullica Twp.did. By way of the letter sent out to everyone. And No, most of us will not be returning to the squad if Franklin is Chief".
I thought this was a very important piece of information that might be lost because of all the more recent articles on different subjects.
This statement opens alot of questions about what is really going on behind the scenes and if Gary Franklin even has a squad to bring back.

There was never any doubt in my mind that the Squad has many very good, community minded people in it. When you think about it they were serving our needs for free. Thank you for your service, I hope the powers that be can find a way to bring the squad back, keeping in mind our tight budget. Again thank you for your service.
At this point, it is unclear if Gary Franklin is still the official spokesperson for the former rescue squad members or not.
I read the comment here from one of the Squad members that said they all stuffed the envelopes together. This member said twice on the AC Press that they knew nothing about the resignation. I guess only the squad members know the truth in this matter.
In that 2/6/09 article,Gary Franklin did all the talking so I am presuming that he still wants to be the leader. The town should request that a signed list of all the volunteers that wish to come back be presented with any bid.
Anyone know why the article about the Sweetwater Casino got removed from the Mullica News this morning?
What was in the article? Did it step on somebody's toes or hit a nerve?
Most of the rescue squad was at the meeting when they gave up on Mullica. Now they want it back, sorry a little to late maybe you'll think before you speack next time. Signed grateful but time to go forward not backwards
Even if the whole squad wanted to come back, what could this town give them that was any different than before? Budgets all over are being cut to extremes.
I read the Casino article. I had no idea that the owners were suing the insurance company. I thought they were already in the planning stage of rebuilding. How sad for them to be tied up in a lawsuit.
Well, here's some good news for a change. The town's backhoe that's up for auction went from a $325 start and is now up to $7000. All the other vehicles are getting good bids ,too. The town will be making some money, I hope.
It is impossible for me to believe that the majority of Squad members were not told about the letters being sent out. I think there would have been a reaction of anger on their part if they received them at their homes without knowing what was going on.
I don't think the whole Squad would keep quiet about something like that.
They are good people and I know they will be helping people in the future whether it's here in Mullica or on some other Squad.
If the backhoe did so well, think how much we may have been able to get for the land that was given to the Chief of Police at under market value because of Bill, Janet and Cathy. Remember the state was interested, but the three of them could not wait to give it away.
I think that Kennedy's reason as to why the township was selling the property was something like "we don't want it", just like the backhoe. Think what the backhoe would have brought if there was only one bidder. It was as though it was too much trouble to find its real value by letting the state appraise the property first, like it needed to do in order to bid fair market value.
