From the Press of Atlantic City article dated 2/06/09.
"Several township democrats are calling for Deputy Mayor William Kennedy to step down from the county's Democratic committee, questioning his loyalty to the party."
MULLICA TOWNSHIP - Members of the local Democratic Club are calling for Deputy Mayor William Kennedy to resign from his position on the Atlantic County Democratic Committee.
A formal request was handed to Kennedy in an envelope marked "confidential and personal" prior to a recent Mullica Township Committee meeting, Kennedy said.
In the envelope was a letter dated Jan. 17 and signed by 16 people that requested Kennedy's resignation from his position on the county committee due to his "desire to not affiliate with the local Democratic Club and local Democratic elected officials."
Kennedy is one of six people who represent the township at county committee meetings. It is a two-year position to which the club elected him last year.
Also in the envelope was a pre-written resignation letter, addressed to Atlantic County Democratic Committee Chairman Patrick D'Arcy, for Kennedy to sign.
"They even addressed the three envelopes for me. The only thing they were missing was stamps," Kennedy joked.
Kennedy, who is in his second term on the Township Committee, said he has no plans to succumb to the club's pressure.
"If I want to resign, I'll resign. And I'll do it on my own terms," he said. "Not because these people signed a letter at a meeting that I wasn't invited to."
Even if Kennedy resigns from the club, his political affiliation could stay the same.
"I've been a Democrat since I first registered to vote," Kennedy said. "When I went to register, I asked my mom whether I should be a Republican or a Democrat. She smacked me on the back of the head and said, 'You're a Democrat,' and that was that."
But Deneen St. Amour, the township's Democratic municipal chairwoman and the wife of Democratic Committeeman Michael St. Amour, said some of Kennedy's recent comments seem to contradict that.
"After reading Bill quoted in The Press of Atlantic City saying that he's always considered himself 'neutral or independent,' that he doesn't think 'Democrat or Republican, at this level, means that much,' and that he couldn't support Michael due to what happened in court, I asked the former municipal chair for advise on what I should do," said Deneen St. Amour, adding she was told the only way Kennedy can be replaced is if he resigns.
"No, I don't expect him to sign it," she said.
Michael St. Amour testified against Kennedy in a court case in which the Kennedy - then mayor - was accused of physically assaulting a township resident at a school board meeting. The charges against Kennedy eventually were dropped.
"There is nothing personal involved in this at all," Deneen St. Amour said. "If you don't consider yourself a Democrat, I don't think you should be representing our local Democrats at the county level."
Michael St. Amour took it a step further, saying Kennedy should resign from the Township Committee as well.
"I think that he's lost his moral compass, and I've lost any confidence in his ability to do what's right for the township," said Michael St. Amour, who signed the club's resignation request along with fellow Democratic Committeeman Bernard Graebener.
Graebener said he did not feel it was appropriate to comment on the club's letter to Kennedy.
St. Amour, Graebener and Kennedy are the three Democrats on the five-person Township Committee.
Kennedy seemed to be relatively unfazed by his critics.
"I'm still a Democrat. Apparently I'm a bad one, but I'm still a Democrat," he said. "And I've always acted with the township's best interest at heart."

It's apparent his mother didn't smack him hard enough, a brick upside his head wouldn't faze this dolt.
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, then it must be a duck.
Kennedy ain't no Democrat.
Kennedy's actions speak louder than his words. He's not acting in the best interest of the community but in the interests of himself and his friends. How else does he explain voting for a Republican mayor with 12 outstanding DEP violations and replacing Mullica's excellent solicitor with the daughter attorney of his former employer and where he golfs? Tell me how that has the township's best interest at heart.
If you read the actual print article in the Press there is a subheading that isn't on the online article which states:
"Several township democrats are calling for Deputy Mayor William Kennedy to step down from the county's Democratic committee, questioning his loyalty to the party."
That says it all, he's been disloyal to the very people who voted for him and his party.
Thank you for pointing out the sub-heading, it is an important aspect of the article that wasn't on the on-line version and I will include it in the post itself.
Damn! That was the problem! They forgot to put the stamps on the envelopes!
Since the 26th Amendment changed the voting age to 18 in 1971, I am assuming that he was 21 yrs old when mama was still smacking the back of his head and telling him what to do. I wonder if they gave her special permission to go into the booth and pull the levers for him. I can imagine all you would hear from behind those curtains would be "ow","ouch","ow",mama,OUCH!
What strikes me the most is the insincere statement, "And I've always acted with the township's best interest at heart." How? Like when he practically gave away township property to his buddy Chief Barbera without looking into the State's offer?
His own Press statement of "Damn right I am going to sue,..." when his second legal bills weren't being paid on the taxpayer's dime for his indiscretion? Because he holds a grudge against St. Amour, stating "I can't support Mike because of that, and Mike knows that,", so if Mr. St. Amour has an idea that's good for the taxpayer's, Mr. Kennedy won't support it out of spite?
All this is "And I've always acted with the township's best interest at heart."?
These are all things he voted on and has stated, in print,in the Press of Atlantic City and he can't deny or back out of these statements. What world does he come from where he believes these decisions and statements are in the township's best interest? Is he in some sort of denial about what he is saying and doing? Has he no values or principles? He is ego driven at this point and doesn't have the finesse to pull it off.
Kennedy has absolutely no interest in the welfare of the community.
He's got his two new "Mamas" telling him what to do now. They've filled his empty, smacked head with lies and hatred for their political reasons. They needed his vote to get their way and played him to the max.
According to this article,a letter dated Jan.17 was in an envelope marked "confidential and personal".
How did the AC press get this story?
It looks like our boy Kennedy couldn't keep his mouth shut again. I'm starting to believe that he likes all this publicity. Doesn't he realize how bad his own quotes make him look?
It looks like he'll never be too old to learn new ways of being stupid.
There's no fool like an old fool.
"I'm still a Democrat. Apparently I'm a bad one,but I'm still a Democrat". Bill Kennedy
Yes ,I agree with Kennedy. He definitely is a bad one in more ways then just political party.
I used to think that he was just stupid, then I thought he was a stupid bully. Now,my opinion is that he is a stupid bully that was given an ounce of power that went to his empty head.
His egotism is nature's compensation for his mediocrity.
He has totally betrayed the voters on the local level and refuses to release his county vote to someone who would represent the party in a proper manner.
I am disgusted with this man and his spiteful antics against the citizens of this town.
21 years old and he had to ask his mother what he should be. She smacks him on the back of the head and tells him he's a Democrat.
40+ years later, he's still a Democrat and still has no clue as to why.
Is this why he thinks of himself as neutral or independent because he never bothered to look into the difference between the parties?
I'm assuming he registered at 21,he could have been 45 when he voted for the first time. All those years of head bashing could explain some of his problems.
For the people that didn't see the actual Press article, I've got to tell you that the picture they put in of Kennedy would make your hair stand up.
If we're lucky some producer will see it and put him under contract for a Stephen King horror movie.
On second thought, I might send it in to a producer with contact information.
That would be a good solution for everyone. He'll be happy and rich in Hollywood and we will be happy and peaceful in Mullica.
I still don't understand why Kennedy went to the Press with this story. Was it for pity? "Oh look what they're doing to me, boo-hoo". I do pity Mr. Kennedy, not because they asked him to resign, but because of his total lack of intelligence and integrity and feel pity for the very people he lets down on the daily basis. In the famous words of Mr. T, "I Pity the Fool".
Mr. Kennedy, go have your pity party somewhere else because the people Mullica Township don't want to hear it anymore.
The party's resignation call obviously does faze Kennedy or he wouldn't have leaked it to the Press to try to make it appear as though he was being picked on. If it didn't faze him, he would have just thrown the letter away. It's probably sitting in his "get even" file at this very moment.
This was Kennedy's attempt to appeal to local Republicans that he's a Democrat in name only but really sides with the Republican Party. He offers no evidence that he supports the Democratic Party principles of honest and open government or fiscal responsibility or working to keep the community rural. He's lost the support of his party and needs the esteem of the Republicans to remain significant.
Esteem??? I would think that he's the #1 joke of the Republican Party. They are manipulating him for all he's worth and the last thing they would want is for him to change parties. They don't want this problem child in their house.(or at their meetings)
Look at all the people that he threw under the bus with his big mouth.
#1 Chasey-She told him to illegally enter Larry's house
#2 Barbera-he took Bill there without a warrant
#3 Forman-he used her for a lawyer and legal fees
#4 Judge Broome
#5 Jeff Waldman
#6 His "pal"
All because he was so proud of his ticket fixing.
He also threw the Fire Dept. under the bus by appointing Franklin the Chief.
He disrespected the Police Dept.by having their ticket squashed.
He never helped the Rescue Squad and they didn't even come to him as ,"Director of Public Safety", when they thought of coming back.
That alone shows how little they respect him.
He betrayed his fellow Dems.on committee,he assaulted a citizen, got angry that people wouldn't lie for him, then expected his legal fees to be repaid.
He has turned his back on everyone in this town that voted for him.
The only good thing that Bill Kennedy has done is put the spotlight on what goes on behind the scenes. He just has to brag to people about how important he is and what he does or can do or what he knows.
Good riddens to bad rubbish! The Republicans can have their puppet.
They probably know already that he's more trouble than he's worth.
If Kennedy wasn't "fazed", then why did he bring it up to the Press reporter? Obviously, it was bothering him. He needs to be liked by everyone and can't take it when people disagree with him. This is usually followed by an outburst of his temper. Just ask the people who know him best...
Why did he bring it to the reporter? My theory is that he saw the "personal and confidential" on the envelope and didn't realize that was for his benefit.
He probably thought that the Dems. didn't want this out in the public eye. He shot himself in the foot again.
It seems whenever Kennedy has "confidential" information he just can't stop himself from telling it. It must make him feel important.
Anyone who knows Kennedy knows that he is a blabbermouth. It makes him feel important. Its better not to tell him anything unless you want it spread around.
You guys were right to disown that buffoon.
