New Poll On Sidebar

There is a new poll on the sidebar stemming from a Press of Atlantic City article, dated 2/14/09, about State politicians pushing for legislation that would require them to sign off on all Pinelands Commission changes to the development map. Let us know your opinion on this.

There's already too much political pressure on the Pinelands Commission to bend the rules and compromise the environment of the Pinelands. We don't need any more interference.

I don't like the new map that the
Pinelands Commission is drawing up.
I don't like the idea of "clustering" which will require new houses be built closer together and nearer to the street.
If a person has a five acre wooded lot here, maybe they bought it to have some privacy when they build.

I also don't think it's fair to take the development rights away from the farmers. These people will lose alot of money if the Commission rezones their land. They won't be able to sell their rights to the state any more or be able to build.
Some people bought land decades ago for an investment and this commission can wipe out their profits or intended use.
Some politicians are fighting the new map because they feel it is detrimental to their communities.

I think the Commission should have discussions with every town's officials before they make the changes.
You can't group all politicians together. For instance, I would love to have St. Amour and Graebener sign off on a proposed map but I would cringe at the thought of Chasey and Forman approving it.
Chasey already asked to have all that extra acreage included in the Elwood Village on the new map, possibly as a set up for rezoning to 6 homes per acre instead of 1 home per 2 acres.
