Subject: Rumors: Since you brought up the subject of the rumors regarding Mr. Tom Carl, I thought you should take a few moments Larry to get yourself educated. While you are correct that these are truly ugly rumors and that there may be no way of proving them true, you can also be assured that there is no way of proving them UNTRUE. You see, if you consult any women's crisis center, you will learn that few women ever report physical violence. Why? They often fear the repercussions that may follow from their abuser. The fact IS that many of these women suffer silently and are victims of a continual cycle of abuse. Keep in mind that it was you that brought these rumors up on your blog, not anyone else. And now that you have, you should refrain from insulting the thousands of women who suffer from physical abuse by assuming that those who are abused automatically go on report those crimes. IT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN THAT WAY. Ask "The Landlord". And I find it hard to believe that the folks at Town Hall would be spreading such rumors. Are you just using this "story" to take another shot at those people? I apologize to Mr. Carl and his family for this posting, but feel that I must speak up for those who suffer at the hand of others.

RESPONSE: Sadly, you make a point that has validity and then seem to use it in most ugly manner...despite the empty apology. One is left to draw from this that the ugly rumor may be true...that is clearly what you insinuate here.

There is simply NO evidence and there have been no domestic dispute calls to the Carl household...NONE!!! That would seem to unequivocally dispel the ugly rumor in this case. Because one has a different view, or political affiliation than Mr. Carl on this, or that issue ... in NO way validates a circulation of this ugly rumor and then to attempt to spin this 'Swift Boating' as ultimately, one can not prove a negative...means one has flunked a basic understanding of Logic and Fairness.
