Subject: Egg Harbor City Endangers Mullica Residents: Gadfly, I was shocked to learn in today's Press that a 38-year old woman died recently, just days after her release from the hospital for injuries she suffered after being brutally attacked at the Egg Harbor City train station. It was completely irresponsible for the Egg Harbor City Police to keep this attack from the public. I am sure that a number of our residents utilize the train station, and for all who use the station, they should be made aware of crimes at the station so that they can make an informed choice for their source of transportation. While police agencies have a long record of keeping information from the public, first and foremost they are there for "public safety" and should inform the public of such incidents. Newly hired police chief John McColgan and Mayor Joe Kuehner owe the public better, and hiding behind excuses of why names could not be named is no reason to shield the community from the simple fact that a serious crime took place. Shame on Joe especially. SL
