DEVELOPMENT IN MULLICA
Last year (2007) brought 12 new homes to Mullica and with other construction a bit less than $5 million in new ratables... $4.8+ million. One would hope that with that much in new ratables that the governing body would hold the line and not raise taxes.
As for the effort to rezone parts of Mullica for dense housing ... that seems dead. With the defeat of the Republicans and the victory of the Democrats in Mullica the first business was to rescind the lame duck Republicans actions to tilt the Land Use Board pro-development and the Dems were successful in rescinding that Board and appointing a much more environmentally sensitive Board in accordance with the wishes of the voters.
Clearly the philosophic differences regarding the future of development should be clear. At the January Budget Work shop, Republican Committee person janet THE AUTO INSURANCE FRAUD QUEEN OF ATLATIC COUNTY forman seemed to push again for more development with an observation that it would have been in the interest of Mullica in terms of meeting our low income housing requirement to have approved the dense senior housing project. HUH? It should be noted that Mullica is one of the few certified towns in terms of meeting the phase II State requirements to provide low income housing. While a new phase III is now in play...it is not clearly understood and the push to spend scarce tax dollars and hire some soupposed expert on the new Phase III seems foolish. Let’s wait and let other towns spend their tax dollars and let the dust settle into what the new criteria will be…rather than running out there and hiring some whore engineer as the Clerk, kim THE QUIZLING CHRISTIAN BIGOT jonhnson seemed to be pushing for at the Budget Work Shop.
