Subject: re are cops: are three cops are being sued for fause arrest

RESPONSE: I had first filed an OPRA request up stairs at Town Hall because I thought you were asking if there were lawsuits of some kind against some Mullica cops. But after I posted the response I got upstairs you sent this...and I filed an OPRA request down stairs with the Mullica Police Department.

The response I received yesterday was that no information would be provided as the matter had to do with 'personnel records'. Clearly, had there been a formal Criminal Complaint filed of false arrest there would be a record available to the public. What often happens when there is a feeling by a citizen that the law has been violated by a cop...and one talks to a detective or higher up cop, the matter should go to the County prosecutor's office.

However, Prosecutors are cops and the system tends to protect its own. There is a small window of time in which citizens can file criminally or civily...and often the game seems to be to get that clock to tick out with an investigation to prevent charges being filed. In the case you ask about -- which one that is I don't know...we all remain in the dark...just the way the system wants it to be.
