VIOLENCE REPORT FROM OAKCREST AND ABSEGAMI (GEHR)
The State of New Jersey mandates that schools each year make an annual report of school violence to Trenton. The report is filed in October at the end of the school year...and last October’s ‘Violence and Vandalism Report' for 2005-2006 school year breaks down as follows for GEHR:
WEAPONS:
2 Possession of a firearm, 9 possession of other weapon
VIOLENCE:
11 Simple Assaults, 5 Aggravated Assaults, 41 Fights, 2 Sex Offenses, 4 Harassment/Intimidation/Bullying, 4 Threats
SUBSTANCE ABUSE:
24 Possession, 8 Use Confirmed, 2, Distribution
VANDALISM:
1 Arson
1 Fireworks Offense
18 Thefts
4 Damage to Property
The reported incidents resulted in 182 School Suspensions; 89 at Absegami and 93 at Oakcrest. One in School Suspension’ occurred at Oakcrest and there were 3 student ‘Removal’ at Absegami.
The 67 Violence incidents broke down between the two schools evenly; 34 Absegami, 33 Oakcrest
The 23 Vandalism incidents reported broke down; 14 Absegami, 9 Oakcrest.
The 11 Weapons incidents broke down; Absegami 7, Oakcrest 4.
The 34 Substance Abuse incidents broke down: Absegami 14, Oakcrest 20.
It is noted that all reported offenses at GEHR reported were from students in the school system. Victims who were school personnel as opposed to students as reported were; Absegami 3, Oakcrest 4.
