Subject: fashion change? Larry, I recently noticed that the Mullica Police are wearing a different uniform. What was wrong with the old ones? I was just wondering how much this needless fashion change cost the taxpayer. ~D
RESPONSE: DUH!! I would apparently make a very poor detective as I simply failed to notice the sartorial change...but you are correct... the uniform change became mandatory for all Mullica cops on April 1st. Thanks for pointing this out and raising important questions.
Apparently, this was something that had been under discussion for around a year and the issue of a more practical uniform was raised by Mullica’s cops as a concern in the performance of their duties. The ‘Class A’ uniforms that were warn in the past are considered to be more dress uniforms and the new ‘Class B’ uniforms are more a work uniform as they have the various insignia and badges embroidered into the material and thus last longer...the cuffs of the pants are bloused (tucked into boots). GadFly is pleased to note that there was no additional cost to Mullica taxpayers as a result of this change as the cops purchased the new required uniforms themselves.
