MULLICA RECYCLE RATE – 2006
The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACLU) has issued its recycle rate for the 23 municipalities that make up Atlantic County. The problem is the comparative numbers fail to apply equal standards to all towns as they only take into consideration material that is recycled through the ACLU. Some towns have in the past chosen to use private contractors to handle their recylables as well as their municipal waste, also some towns like Mullica choose to recycle their own yard waste and thus those figures are not included in the comparative representations.
Mullica Township is listed among the top 4 recycling towns in Atlantic County with a rate of 37% of the Township’s waste recycled. Three of the four towns rated with a higher recycle rate than Mullica, ...Northfield 52%, ...Absecon 42%, ...Linwood 41% count their yard waste which Mullica does not. This because these three towns have the ACLU pick up their yard waste (leaves and brush) while Mullica collects its yard waste at the Mullica Transfer Station and makes it available to residents as mulch. Were Mullica to factor in its recycled yard waste it would clearly show a higher recycle rate than these three towns. That would mean that only Somers Point has a better recycle rate than Mullica ...Somers Point recycle rate is 38% (not counting its yard waste) and Mullica’s is 37%.
In 2006 1,017 tons of recyclable were picked up curbside in Mullica by the ACLU.
It is further noted that THE CORRUPT MULLICA 5 AKA IDIOTS R US have done nothing to up that rate as it is similar to the 2005 Mullica recycle rate.
