Subject: Turn up the heat: Larry the most frustrating thing about this week's congressional debate on Iraq was the group of so-called "moderates"—mostly Republicans—who criticized the war loudly, but wouldn't support any effort to end it. They know voters want to end the occupation in Iraq, so they say the right things on TV, but when the chips are down, they side with President Bush, assuming voters won't know the difference. They need to pay a political price for their hypocrisy. If we can make sure they do, we can get them to start voting right and we can break the president's policy of endless war in Iraq. They're all heading home for a break next week.. This is a tipping point in the debate around Iraq: For the first time since the war started a little over four years ago Congress has passed a deadline to end it. But some members of Congress are trying to have it both ways—criticizing the war and voting to keep it going endlessly. Together, we have to make sure they feel a lot of heat every time they side with the President. Our own Congressman Frank LoBiondo and Senators like Collins, Sununu and Coleman are facing a tough election next year. They can't afford to keep siding with the president on his policy of endless war. Senator Obama believes it "is time to admit that no amount of American lives will resolve the political disagreement that lies at the heart of someone else's civil war." His plan to bring the troops home by the end of 2008 will "pressure the Sunni and Shiite to come to the table and find peace." He challenges us to be "the generation that honors our [veteran's] courage" by providing the care they need when they return. M

RESPONSE: Ah, but people should remember there are some who are making a lot of money off this war...dick THE VICE WAR PROFITEER cheney and his fellow Repubican backers in the military idustrial complex want the war to go on for another decade.
