Subject: Mullica Promotes Knights of Colombus Good Friday Dinner: Larry, Is this a group that Mullica Township should be endorsing on the township’s website? This is a sectarian religious organization that, although it is recognized for its support of charities, it’s also well-known for its financial sponsorship of an anti-gay, national post-card writing campaign designed to deny civil rights to some Americans (and, one would have to assume, some our own residents) to marry or to have civil unions. I’d rather that my tax money not be spent in this way, by sanctioning those who would discriminate.

RESPONSE: This seems a clear ‘separation of church and State’ issue where Mullica offica DUMB have crossed the line again. Albeit, one suspects that again there is just an insensitivity rather than malaise. Like the KKK issue in Hammonton, groups like the Boy Scouts, the Aryan Nation, the Salvation Army and the Knights of Colombus have a right to be racists and bigots.

Perhaps the best analogy here is if the Hammonton taxpayer provided web site promoted a KKK dinner given their anti black, Jew and Catholic agenda/bigotry. This is not as one Mullica Official posited analogous to a “Crafts Show” run by one of the local churches that was posted on the Town web site...this is the promotion of a Political celebration/ceremony with taxpayers monies by a group that seeks to exclude and judge others as not worthy members of the human community...often while supporting pedaphile priests. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! ...and let’s not forget the Christian nonjudgmental bigotry of the group holding the event.

GadFly has raised the issue with Mullica’s Clerk, and Ms. Johnson has indicated that she will run the matter by the town solicitor. Of course his record as a whore with no ethics or respect for the Law has been well documented here ...so GadFly may once again have to seek outside interests to force Mullica respect for the ‘Law’ upon the local powers in Mullica...let’s hope that is not necessary.
