Subject: Special interests: Larry, I find indoor smoking bans laughable. All you have to do is take a drive on the New Jersey Turnpike and see the hundreds of industry smokestack spewing smoke and pollutants into the air. Why is so little being done about this kind of second-hand smoke? Why are corporations protected? The message in New Jersey is clear; if you have money to throw around, you have freedom; no money equals no freedom. It seems government, special interests and the wealthy are waging war against the middle class, the poor and small business owners. Wake up New Jersey before it is too late. Al
RESPONSE: The BUSH THE LESSER administration has repeatedly succeeded in weakening pollution standards for coal burning plants from Ohio and other states that send their unhealthy air to New Jersey. Even former Republican Christy Whitman has NOW objected to the loosening of environmental regulations for wealthy polluting corporate contributors to BUSH THE LESSER.
