Subject: In the GOP Crosshairs: Larry, the AARP is actively campaigning against President Bush's plan to restructure Social Security. A conservative group ran an Internet ad criticizing AARP's position and linking the organization to support for same-sex marriage, an issue which AARP denies having taken a position on. If AARP continues to expose the phony crisis the administration is manufacturing, it will have the opportunity to deny all sorts of interesting things. When the Republican slime machine really gears up, the old folks at AARP will find that: 1) they are charter members of the "hate America" crowd (Osama bin Laden is probably hiding in their basement); 2) half of AARP membership dues go to support the Taliban (the other half to buy nuclear material for Iran and North Korea): 3) AARP is violently opposed to family values, motherhood, apple pie and Santa Claus (while endorsing teenage pregnancy and heroin in grammar schools). Lots of luck, Gramps. Try not to get steamrolled. John

RESPONSE: AARP which is an insurance company supported the joke Medicare prescription program that the President successfully rammed through Congress because they are business and it was in their interest to sell out the seniors they claim to represent. Having said that; the present ad campaign being run by the same group of Republican Bush supporters who ran the Swift Boat campaign and contains the same level of lies that were successful against Kerry; the linking of AARP to same sex marriage may well be even too duplicous for the public to buy this time around...but Republicans have every reason to doubt that is the case...after all, their lies got their man elected just this past November.
