Subject: Betraying the Nation; Larry I am sickened by the Senate’s betrayal of America in approving legislation that paves the way to oil exploration in the Alaskan wildlife refuge. Is it the intent of the government, not just the Bush administration, but Congress as well, to tear up every forest, every pasture, every pristine wilderness of this country in order to get every last drop of oil it can? The villain in this case was the Senate, but it was simply being complicit in the larger crime being committed by President Bush and his administration of corporate and special interest lackeys. The public deserves some blame, too. Where is the outrage, the indignation? What will it take to make us stand up to a man who seems intent on tearing up 70 years’ worth of social and environmental progress? Steve J
