Trump Campaign to Sue CNN
Earlier this week, Project Veritas released shocking undercover video recordings at CNN headquarters showing CNN employees saying some appalling things regarding President Trump, CNN's left-wing bias and their leadership. In response to the footage, President Trump's campaign has announced that they plan on suing the network for "a substantial payment of damages."
President Trump's attorney Charles J. Harder sent a scathing four-page letter to CNN President Jeff Zucker, calling out his left-wing bias and noting how the network has abandoned their promise of "excellence in journalism."
The letter touched on some of the comments made in the undercover video footage including how insiders at CNN describe Zucker's anti-Trump agenda of “impeachment above all else,” and how they “are merely the tip of the iceberg of the evidence my clients have accumulated over recent years.”
He also noted: “Never in the history of this country has a President been the subject of such a sustained barrage of unfair, unfounded, unethical and unlawful attacks by so-called 'mainstream' news, as the current situation.”
Harder is accusing CNN of violating the Lanham Act “by constituting misrepresentations to the public, to your advertisers, and to others” to distribute “truly fair and balanced” news.
“Accordingly, my clients intend to file legal action against you, to seek compensatory damages, treble damages, punitive damages, injunctive relief, reimbursement of legal costs, and all other available legal and equitable remedies, to the maximum extent permitted by law,” the letter continues.
Harder made it clear later in the letter that they plan on taking money from CNN for damages.
“Please contact the undersigned to discuss an appropriate resolution of this matter, which would include a substantial payment of damages, as well as all other appropriate measures that are necessary to fully address the magnitude of the situation,” wrote Harder.
The footage released by Project Veritas shows a clear violation of journalism ethics considering CNN employees admitted on camera of their radical left-wing bias.
“Recently released video footage of individuals alleged to be your employees indicates that your reporting relating to President Trump is contrary to your own mission and the aforementioned Code of Ethics. Your own employees appear to state that CNN is focused on trying to ‘take down President Trump,’ driven by a ‘personal vendetta’ that Mr. Zucker purportedly has against him, rather than reporting the news in an objective manner," Harder wrote.
One of the most alarming comments made in the undercover footage came during Project Veritas' third drop on Thursday when CNN Field Production Supervisor Gerald Sisnette wished for President Donald Trump's death.
“This is a story that’s not gonna go away,” Mr. Sisnette said.
“Oh the Ukraine thing? Or just Trump in general?” the CNN whistleblower questioned.
“Trump in general. The only way this will go away is when he [Trump] dies. Hopefully soon,” Gerald Sisnette said
