Nacote Creek Bridge Closing

JUST A FYI
Emergency Closing - Nacote Creek Bridge, Port Republic
Effective as of 2 PM on Wednesday, March 20, the Nacote Creek Bridge (PR-7), Old New York Road (CR610) over Nacote Creek in Port Republic is closed to all traffic following an interim state inspection that found additional deterioration of the bridge that is scheduled for full replacement by the county beginning later this year.
The state has been inspecting the bridge every three months to ensure its safety. Prior to today’s inspection the bridge had last been inspected before the beginning of this year and was not found to be unsafe for travel at that time.
Atlantic County has been working with the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers for permitting approvals. Construction was originally scheduled to begin as early as July but will now be delayed for a few months due to the rigors of bridge permitting.
A detour will be posted and motorists are advised to plan travel time accordingly.
