Kitchen fire burns home in Totem Village, no one hurt

A kitchen fire damaged a home Monday afternoon in the 3000 block of Tomocomo Drive in the township’s Nesco section, police said, but no one was injured.

Police said the township’s fire departments responded to the structure fire about 12:50 p.m. The home was the residence of Tiffany Sharp, police said, and her teenage son was home alone. Police said the family is staying with relatives.

The fire started in the kitchen, but was not considered suspicious, police said.

The home suffered moderate fire damage and extensive smoke and water damage, police said.

Because of the heat, firefighters worked short shifts, with extra manpower called in from neighboring fire companies.
