Subject: flag: Larry, its true the Republicans in Mullica do some despicable things, but they are not alone. Their Republican counterparts in Washington Township have for weeks been flying a shredded and tattered flag over townhall. Today, the American Legion took it upon themselves to lower the flag. Quite a statement

RESPONSE: Well, in fairness, one has to acknowledge the fact that there are more than likely a number of Democratic controlled towns where the same kind of disrespect for the flag occurs. It is the nature of ‘power’ to be contemptuous of the people. I return again to one of my favorite quotes…Tom Paine said, THE DUTY OF A PATIROT IS TO LOVE HIS COUNTRY AND PROTECT IT FROM ITS GOVERNMENT.

We all, as blessed citizens of America need to show less loyalty to political tribe and more to ethics and principles of right and wrong. Too often, we demonstrate how little different we are than ‘good Germans’ looking the other way during the Nazi era, or the Catholic/Protestant battles in Ireland, or the Sunni/Shia battles in the Middle East...loyalty to clan over principle. The loyalty to tribe, religion, clan, race and political Party is the enemy of good government. The job of the people is to be ever wary of those in Power…as that Power inevitably gets abused.
