Subject: Fixing Health Care: Larry, the problem I see with many universal healthcare proposals is their reliance on the current system. Most proposals also perpetuate the employer-based model that is outmoded in today's society. Putting patches on the current system to cover more people would only further complicate the system and ultimately cost more money. I believe a universal healthcare plan can be devised that increases efficiency and still provides quality care and preserves patient choice. To do so, however, will require us to move beyond what has been tried in the past. WILLIAM MCREE
RESPONSE: I could not agree with you more. The Hillary plan and Mitt Romny plan and the Schwarznager plan all use the present profit driven insurance model that in truth places profits above the providing of the right to quality health care to everyone. A governmetn run plan that removes the profit driven insurance industry from any role in providing health care will lower costs and result in medical decision being made based on good doctor decisions rather than the present system that factors in the profit motive in the medical decision making process.
