Subject: Americna soldiers are fleeing the Iraq war for Canada: Salon.com, Mar 3, 2007- With the Iraq war in its fifth year, an increasing number of American soldiers have been going AWOL and fleeing to Canada, particularly over the last six months. One lawyer who works on their behalf puts the number of American war resisters currently living in Canada at 250 or more. Advocates for them here talk of a kind of "underground railroad" that has developed south of the border to help war resisters make their way north.....

RESPONSE: These men and women, many who have served already one or two terms in Iraq and Afghanistan are heros of conscience. If Republicans, including those three jerks (McCain, Julliani and Romney) who are running for President really believed the 'stay the course' rhetoric they spouted the other night in support of the war, they would be calling for a universal draft...and if there were a draft, the people in the street protesting would dwarf the Vietnam protests. They shame the old GOP mantra of wariness of foreign adventures and long ago abandoned the Republican motif of fiscal responsibility..as they continue to call for more tax cuts for the super rich.
