Subject: Packing the Courts: Senate Republicans are hurling absurd accusations of anti-Catholic, anti-Hispanic, anti-African American bias against Senate Democrats because they refuse to roll over and allow President Bush to pack the courts with right wing ideologues. The GOP tries to convince the American public of a “judicial vacancy crisis.” If there is a crisis, it is of the GOP’s own making. Unlike the Democrats, who have taken the high road by blocking only 4 Republican nominees while approving 16, the republicans blocked dozens of President Clinton’s nominees. The candidates the Democrats object o are people who profess an extreme right wing philosophy, which will threaten 75 years of social progress, including protections for civil rights, privacy rights, reproductive rights and labor rights.
