Subject: Bush’s Vietnam: President Bush’s statement that we will not leave Iraq is the height of arrogance. I never hear him say anything comforting to the families of the soldiers who were killed, or read news that he has visited any of the families or made any public statement of how terrible he feels about these daily losses of life. They appear only to be numbers, not really people. He only states that we will not leave, that “they” will not scare us away. I believe that Iraq is president Bush’s Vietnam and that he will not realize how really dreadful this is to the people of our country until we and the families who have lost children and spouses join forces to force him to acknowledge what a wrong thing it is for us to stay there.
