Subject: Armchair Warriors: Did anyone notice the quaver of fear in Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz"s voice as he addressed reporters last month after the rocket attack on his Baghdad hotel? Perhaps now Woflowitz, a key advocate of the Iraq operation and one of its main architects, understands that the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq isn't just some sterile, academic exercise, conducted from the safety of the Pentagon. An American soldier died in the attack, as U.S. military personnel have been dying almost daily, to satisfy the grand strategy of Wolfowitz and the Bush administration. Maybe the rest of the armchair warriors in Washington should spend some time under fire in Iraq to learn the true costs of waging war. W P
